about black beyond _origins
black beyond presents _origins, a virtual, collaborative experience that serves as an ode to Black femmes, womxn, gender non-conforming, and beyond.
This four-day event will begin on June 17th, 2021 leading into the Juneteenth weekend.
RSVP here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/black-beyond-origins-registration-157418136885
Each day will feature workshops, talks, performances, and a new media art exhibition in a virtual gallery space hosted by New Art City.
_origins reasserts time into virtual space to reclaim our power through conversations, collaboration, art, and sound rituals. Envisioned as a platform for reimagining Black femme futures, _origins asks what is preservation? Where is restoration? How do we uplift Black femmes? How do we find collective healing amidst the apocalypse? How do we reimagine mythologies to redefine our state of being? An alternate reality to reclaim our sacred energy? Where is the Black femme paradise?
This event features three unique portals where attendees are invited to access, interpret and activate this virtual, collaborative space as a site of embodied thinking, healing, and world-building.
black beyond _origins is organized in partnership with New Art City (@newart.city), Olamina Faction at Parsons School of Design, The New School USS (@tns_uss), Decoding Stigma (@decodingstigma), and Beverly's NYC (@beverlysnyc).
